I don't know why, but it was droped in scsh-0.6. I thought it might have
been because of scheme-48 internals changes, but scheme-48's example
scheme/misc/static.scm from scsh 0.6 has only comment changes from scsh
0.5.

Was there a reason is was dropped for technical reasons rather than lack
of necessity?

Even back in the mid-nineties when I started work on it, it was only
necessary for certain older systems when startup tooks seconds without
it. now the average PC starts scsh pretty fast without it.
