I'd prefer to use the newsgroup but I won't object if you'll use
Mailman to manage the mailing list.  My mailbox is limited to 20 MB
and whenever I go on holiday I have to unsubscribe zillions of mailing
lists.  Mailman has a feature that allows one to put a mailing list on
hold, which is okay, but almost all other mailing list managers are a
pain in the ass in this respect.

BTW, why do you want to use a mailing list at all?  What's wrong with
the newsgroup?
