I just got the following in a mail message from one of the MIT admins:

  I've disabled the comp.lang.scheme and comp.lang.scheme.scsh
  mail-to-news gateways on bloom-beacon.mit.edu.

Thanks to Michael Ernst who, when I notified him of the problem, sent
around mail within MIT to arrange for this.
