[OT] Spam??

What the hell is wrong with this newsgroup??  I have never seen so much 
spam in my life.  It almost makes me puke or going the way to this 
newsgroup in the other direction again.
Other groups don't seem to have this problem.  Is there any special 
thing about *shells* that tickles the spammers' fancy?
Is there anything one can do about it (apart from prepending stuff like 
***spam***)?  What do other ng's do to avoid this hell??
