Sounds like the vm isn't getting linked with -rdynamic or something.
Also, make sure you have the latest C library, I reported a bug to the
libc people a while ago about a problem with dlopen() that would cause
problems like this.

If you're running RedHat, you can try using an RPM of scsh-0.4.4 I
made recently. It's available at http://jsc.atype.com/
