Yeah, but I believe opening floatnums overloads normal arithmetic. (I
should check this, but my '48 sources are at work.) Using the new
procedures will probably affect performance negatively, is my guess.

The current typechecker is pretty much oblivious to floatnums. The
only way I see in a running system is to do
A cleaner way would be to change *type-check*? in bcomp/comp.scm and
creating a new image. That, of course, affects error reporting
