   Ok.  Still, the resident set is pretty large--it's actually touched 2M
   worth of those pages.  Does it do that even if the default heap is
   bigger than necessary?

About an hour ago, I tried to fire up scsh with smaller heaps on a Sparc, and
like those models who refuse to get out of bed for under $10k/day, it refused
to get up for under about 2.2Mw = 9Mb.  Split two ways, that's 4.4 Mb per
semispace. Wow!

I'm grateful swap space is thirty cents a megabyte these days.
