make breaks under Solaris 2.x

My build of scsh under 2.4 went just fine.  However, I note that in
the cases that are breaking, the people are using 'cc', which
presumably means that no GNU utilities are being utilized.  I built
scsh with the GNU binutils and gcc and had no problems.  An
alternative to modifying the make script would be to specify the GNU
archiver, as the lossage seems to be coming from Sun's archiver.
