So on what local news server is alt.lang.scsh served from so I can go
read it there and remove myself from the mailing list to avoid more
alt spam in my mail box?

Olin> news.mit.edu carries it. It's a lot more convenient than the
Olin> mailing list if you can find it in the alt hierarchy. -Olin

but news articles expire (usually quickly these days at most sites who
don't have >10G (we've got 3G soon to be 6G) for news) and thus you
have to read news very often not to miss anything.

Since mail does not expire it's just a matter of haveing some decent
filtering tools like mailagent/proctool with a mail user agent that
can thread (like VM under emacs) to be able to read mailing lists
nicely.

But of course the advantage with a newsgroup is that it gets to more
folk without them having to go thru the mailing list subscribe hassle
... oh well, whatever...

btw, is it alt.lang.scsh or alt.lang.scheme.scsh? is the mailing list
gatewayed both ways?

thx,
glenn
