building scsh under IRIX (csh)

Hello,

     I just dl'd the latest scsh.tar.gz from clark.lcs.mit.edu and am
having trouble building it under IRIX 5.3:

- - ./configure ran fine (although after my first attempted 'make
  install' I had to rerun it with INSTALL set to "cp")

- - I had to comment out one line in a source file to get a clean build

- - 'make check' said everything was fine

- - 'make install' barfs on everything from "for" to single and double
  parenthesis errors, whether run under csh or sh (START_LINKER is
  especially problematic)

     Has anyone built this successfully under IRIX?
