Argh, I had this problem before and forgot it.  Installing and loading
works fine now.  Starting and using the surflet server works fine,
too.  What other scripts did you have in mind?

Did we intend to write "Relay" instead of "Relax" in the RELEASE file?

I've commited some fixes to the surflet docs.
