1.) All of the cygwin support never made it into 0.6 apparently.
2.) when it can't find the platform, it tries to use machine/generic,
but that directory is gone, even though the message mentions it. If we
are removing generic, we should probably just make this an error and
exit, not a warning that scrolls off the screen.
